Delete posts in bulk

Clearing out old drafts one at a time is slow. Select several posts and delete them together instead.

On the web

1. Hover a post in the post list. A checkbox appears in its top right corner.
2. Select the checkbox. Every other post you can select now shows its checkbox too, and a bar appears at the bottom of the screen reading N posts selected.
3. Tick the rest of the posts you want.
4. Select Delete.
5. Confirm with Delete N posts.

The bar also carries Clear selection if you change your mind before confirming.

Selection works in all three post list views — Instagram grid view, List view, and Gallery view. In the Instagram grid you can also hold Cmd (or Ctrl) and click a post to add it to the selection.

Delete up to 100 posts at once. A larger selection fails and nothing is deleted.

In the mobile app

1. Open the Posts tab and switch to Grid view. Selection is a grid affordance — Select does not appear on the other views.
2. Select Select in the header.
3. Tap the posts you want, or Select all to take everything selectable on the tab you are on.
4. Tap the trash icon in the bar at the bottom.
5. Confirm with Delete.

The confirmation names how many scheduled posts will stop publishing.

What can be selected

Published posts are never part of this flow. They carry no checkbox anywhere, and the Instagram grid shows your live feed rather than Planoly's copy of it.

Failed posts can be selected, and in the Instagram grid they can be selected by clicking anywhere on the tile. Take care there: deleting removes the whole post, so if a post went to several channels and only one of them failed, the ones that published are removed from Planoly too.

Everything else can be selected: drafts, dated drafts, placeholders, and scheduled posts.

What a delete removes

Deleting removes the whole post, on every channel it was going to. A post scheduled to Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest goes from all three at once — there is no way to drop one channel from the bar. To keep the post but change the channels, open it and edit it instead.

A scheduled post that is deleted will not publish. The pending publish is cancelled as part of the delete.

What a delete leaves alone

• Media stays in your media library. A delete removes the post, not the photos and videos behind it. The library has its own multi-select delete — see Use the media library.
• Anything already live stays live on the network. Deleting never reaches into Instagram, TikTok, or any other network to remove a post that has published — delete those in the platform's own app. It does remove Planoly's record of them, so a post you delete over a failed sibling disappears from your calendar and reports.
