Auto-post first comments

A first comment is posted by Planoly immediately after your Instagram post publishes. It is where most people put their hashtags.

Add a first comment

1. From Calendar, select Create Post.
2. Add your Instagram channel and pick the post type.
3. Upload your media and write your caption.
4. In the toolbar under the caption, select the First comment tool.
5. Write the comment. Add hashtags or insert a saved keyword group. It turns on as soon as it has text — there is no separate switch.
6. Select Pick a time, then Schedule post.

Requirements

The Instagram account must be a Business or Creator account linked to Planoly through its Facebook Page.

Limits

The 30-hashtag limit is shared. If your caption uses 22 hashtags, your first comment can use 8. Planoly counts them together and flags the post before you can schedule it.

Which post types support it

First comment is available on Instagram Post/Reel and Reel. It is not available on Instagram Story, or on any other channel.

If the comment does not appear

Planoly publishes the post first and the comment second. If the comment fails, the post still goes out — the failure is recorded but the post is not rolled back. Check that the account is still connected and that your comment is inside the limits above, then add the comment by hand on Instagram.
