Create and schedule a post

One post in Planoly can carry several channels at once. You build it once, set a posting method per channel, and pick when it goes out.

Open the post builder

From Calendar, select Create Post.

The caret next to Create Post opens more ways to start:

• Upload media — start a post from photos or videos.
• Placeholder — reserve a slot on your grid without media.
• Bulk create — add several posts at once.
• Generate ideas — get AI-generated suggestions.

You can also hover any date on the calendar, select +, and choose New post. The post opens with that date already set.

Add your channels

1. Select Click to add your channels.
2. Pick channels under My Linked Channels to auto-post, or under More Channels (Reminder only) to plan without signing in to the platform.

Each channel gets its own tab in the builder, so captions and settings can differ per channel.

Add media

Drop files into the upload area, or select Browse files to upload. You can also pull media from your Media Library, Stock Media, Canva, Dropbox, or Google Drive. A post takes up to 10 photos or videos.

Planoly accepts PNG, JPG, GIF, and WEBP images, and MP4, MOV, AVI, and WEBM video.

Drag the thumbnails to change the order of a carousel.

Write your caption

Find the Caption or Description section and type into the field, which prompts you with Write a caption.... Once a post carries several channels the section is marked Applied to all channels. The caption toolbar adds:

• Add emoji — insert an emoji.
• Add Keywords & Captions — insert a saved keyword group or caption template.
• Generate AI caption — draft a caption from a short brief.

Planoly counts characters and hashtags against each channel's own limit and flags a channel that goes over.

Choose a posting method

Each channel that supports auto-posting shows a Posting method control with two options:

• Auto-post — Planoly publishes for you at the scheduled time.
• Reminder — Planoly notifies you and you publish by hand.

Channels that cannot be published to through an API show no control. They always send a reminder.

Pick a time

1. Select Pick a time.
2. On a post with more than one channel, use Schedule all to give them all the same time, or Customize per channel to set them separately. A single-channel post opens straight onto the calendar with no such choice.

Times use your browser's time zone.

Schedule, save, or publish now

• Schedule post puts the post on your calendar for the time you picked.
• Save as draft keeps it with no publishing time.
• The caret next to Schedule post holds Publish now, which sends the post to every channel immediately.

If a channel is missing something, the issues control in the footer lists what to fix before the post can be scheduled.

Edit or delete a post

Select the post on your calendar or in the post list to reopen it. Change what you need, then save or reschedule. Delete is in the footer of the builder, and in the post's own menu on the grid and list views.

After a post publishes

A published post can no longer be edited in Planoly. Its footer shows the publish date, View on Instagram where a link is available, and Create a Copy so you can start a new post from it. To change something that is already live, edit it in the social app.

When only some channels in a post have published, the remaining ones stay editable and the footer shows Save Edits.

Drafts and scheduled posts

A draft has no publishing time and never goes out on its own. A scheduled post has a date and time, and at that time Planoly either publishes it or reminds you, depending on the posting method you chose for each channel.
