Auto-post vs. reminder

Planoly has two posting methods: Auto-post and Reminder. You set one per channel, in the Posting method control under the caption.

Auto-post

Planoly publishes the post for you at the scheduled time. Nothing to do at that moment.

Auto-post works on these channels:

Auto-post needs a channel that is linked with the right permissions. A channel added as reminder-only, or one whose connection has expired, cannot auto-post until you connect or reconnect it. When the connection has expired, the builder shows Your connection expired. with a Reconnect button.

If an auto-post fails, Planoly notifies you so you can publish the post by hand.

Reminder

Planoly notifies you when the post is due and hands you the media and caption to publish yourself.

Reminders go out by push notification and by email. Every active member of the workspace is notified, not only the owner. Turn either one off in Settings, under Post Reminders.

Any channel can use reminder, including ones that support auto-post. Use it when:

• The channel cannot auto-post, as with X.
• You want to review the post one last time before it goes live.
• The platform needs something Planoly cannot send for you.

Planning without publishing

There is no third "manual" posting method. To hold a slot in your plan without anything going out, use a draft or a placeholder. Neither one publishes, and neither one sends a notification. A placeholder also shows on your Instagram grid as a colour block so you can arrange the layout around it.

Change the posting method

Open the post, select the channel's tab, and switch Posting method between Reminder and Auto-post. Save or reschedule the post afterwards. You can change it any time before the post goes out.

Switching a channel to Reminder relaxes that channel's content rules, because you are publishing it by hand.
