Why you have two workspaces after migrating

Why migrating to Social Planner can leave you with two workspaces for the same Instagram account, and how to merge down to one.

After migrating to Social Planner you may see two workspaces where you had one. This is expected.

Why it happens

The previous version of Planoly had two separate tools: Instagram Planner and Social Content Planner. Both could be connected to the same Instagram account, and each stored its content separately. Two tools meant two sets of data, even for one Instagram username.

The migration brought each set of data across as its own workspace:

  • Your original workspace keeps the name you gave it and carries your Social Content Planner content and connections.
  • A new workspace is named Instagram - @yourusername and carries your Instagram Planner content.

Both belong to you. They came from different places.

What to do

We recommend keeping one and deleting the other. Social Planner brings everything into one place, so you no longer need both.

Review both first. Check which one has the content and the linked channels you want to keep going forward.

Delete a workspace

  1. Open the account menu at the bottom of the left sidebar and select Manage workspaces.
  2. Find the row for the workspace you want to remove and select Settings.
  3. Select Delete Workspace at the bottom of the panel.
  4. Type the workspace's name to confirm, then delete.

Only the owner of a workspace can delete it.

If you want to keep both

You can. Nothing forces you to delete either one. Two workspaces with the same Instagram account connected can get confusing when you are scheduling, so rename them so they are easy to tell apart.

  1. Open Manage workspaces and select Settings on the row.
  2. Edit Workspace Name and select Save.

Keep in mind that your plan caps how many workspaces you can have. Starter includes 1, Growth includes 2, and Professional includes 6. Growth and Professional can add more as a paid add-on.
