Reminder-only, linked, and deleted channels

What reminder-only, linked, and deleted channels can and cannot do, and what happens to your content when you switch between them.

A channel in Planoly is in one of three states.

Reminder-only

Reminder-only lets you plan content for a channel without signing in to it. It is the fastest way to start, and it is the only option for a platform Planoly cannot publish to.

With a reminder-only channel you can:

  • Plan and design content in advance.
  • Get a notification on your phone when a post is due.
  • Publish the post by hand in the social app.

A reminder-only channel cannot:

  • Auto-post.
  • Pull in your live Instagram grid.
  • Show analytics.
  • Show your profile avatar.

Linked

A linked channel is signed in and authorized. Linking asks you to sign in to the platform and grant Planoly permission to read your profile and publish on your behalf.

A linked channel adds:

  • Auto-posting.
  • Your profile avatar.
  • Your live Instagram grid.
  • Analytics.

Instagram analytics and tagging need a further step: the Instagram account must be linked to a Facebook Business page.

Switch between states

Select the channel bubble, then choose an action.

  • Unlink Account turns a linked channel into a reminder-only one. Every post stays. Anything scheduled to auto-post becomes a reminder notification. Planoly asks you to confirm first.
  • Link Account turns a reminder-only channel into a linked one. Everything you already uploaded or scheduled stays on the grid.
Unlinking to switch accounts is the wrong tool — Refresh Channel Connection leaves the schedule alone.

Deleted

Delete removes the channel and everything tied to it. It works the same way for a reminder-only channel and a linked one, and it cannot be undone. Only the workspace's owner sees this option, and Planoly asks you to confirm before it runs.

This is the only warning you get. There is no undo and no archive.

If you only want to stop auto-posting, use Unlink Account instead. It keeps your content.
