Change your plan
Move between the Starter, Growth, and Professional plans, change your billing cycle or add-ons, and see when each change takes effect.
Updated
On this page
You change your plan on the web, in Account > Billing. If you bought your subscription in the iOS app, Apple bills it and you change it in your Apple account instead.
Change a plan billed by Planoly
- Open Account > Billing.
- Under Subscription, select Change Plan.
- On the pricing page, set the switch to Pay Monthly or Pay Yearly, then select Edit Plan on your current plan or Select Plan on another one.
- On the checkout page, open Customize to set Add Workspaces, Add Team Members, and Content Marketplace Subscription.
- Select Confirm Changes.
The plan card you are on is banded Your Plan. If you already bought extra workspaces or team members, its button reads Customize Your Plan instead of Edit Plan.
When the change takes effect
Planoly compares the monthly cost of what you have now against the monthly cost of what you picked, add-ons included. A yearly price is divided by twelve for that comparison.
- More expensive — the change applies immediately and you are invoiced today for the rest of the current period.
- Cheaper — the change is scheduled for the end of the period you already paid for.
- The same — the change applies immediately with no charge.
The order summary on the checkout page shows Total today and, under Next billing, the amount and date of your next full invoice. If you have account credit, it is spent on the charge first, and the summary says so.
Moving up
An upgrade takes effect the moment you select Confirm Changes. The extra workspaces or seats are available right away, and Planoly invoices you for the part of the period that remains, offset against what you already paid on the old plan.
Moving down
A downgrade does not take effect straight away. You keep the plan and add-ons you paid for until the end of the current period, then the cheaper plan takes over.
After you confirm, the Billing page shows Switching to the new plan with the date, and lists any add-on reductions that land at the same time. On the pricing page, the plan you are moving to is banded Switching here on that date.
Changing add-ons only
Extra workspaces, extra team members, and the Content Marketplace add-on follow the same rule. Adding one costs more, so it applies immediately. Removing one costs less, so it is scheduled for the end of the period.
Starter carries no add-ons. Moving to Starter drops every add-on you have.
If a downgrade is blocked
At checkout, the Add Workspaces and Add Team Members counters will not go below what your account is already using. If you have four workspaces and pick Growth, the counter starts at two extra workspaces so all four keep working.
Starter has no counters to raise. If you have more workspaces or members than the plan you picked allows, the change is refused with a message naming the count you have and the count the plan allows, and you have to remove the extras first.
Connected social channels are not part of this. Nothing in the plan change asks you to unlink a channel.
On a free trial
A trial is an active subscription, so everything above works during one and the Billing page shows a Trial badge. You are not charged while the trial runs. The trial notice tells you what you will be charged when it ends, and switching plans mid-trial changes that amount rather than charging you now.
Subscriptions billed by Apple
If you bought your subscription in the iOS app, the Billing page replaces the plan controls with Subscription managed by Apple and a Manage on Apple button. Planoly cannot change that subscription.
In the Planoly app on iPhone or iPad, Billing shows MANAGE SUBSCRIPTION, which opens your App Store subscription settings.
To move an Apple subscription to web billing, cancel it in your Apple account first. Subscribing on the web while an Apple subscription is still active is refused with a message telling you to cancel in the App Store first.
Who can change the plan
A subscription belongs to the person who bought it, and a workspace counts as paid based on its owner. Team members have their own billing page showing their own subscription, so ask the account holder to make the change.
