Quick Schedule and Best Time to Post

Quick Schedule is a weekly set of posting times saved on your workspace. Each time you save becomes a slot, and slots show up on the calendar and in the time picker so you can place a post on one instead of typing a time.

A slot is a day of the week and a time. It belongs to the workspace, so it is not tied to a channel or a post type, and every member of the workspace sees the same slots.

Open Quick Schedule

On the calendar, select the gear in the toolbar, then Quick Schedule.

From inside a post, open the scheduling popover and look for Quick schedule under the time picker. Select Set up if you have no slots yet, or the pencil if you do. Planoly saves the post you are working on as a draft, docks it, and closes the builder before opening the dialog.

Add slots

The dialog holds one card per day of the week.

1. On the day you want, enter a time in the field at the bottom of the card.
2. Select +. The time appears as a pill on that day.
3. Repeat for every time you want, on any day.
4. Select Save slots.

You can save up to 50 slots. Two slots cannot share the same day and time. Typing a time that is already taken flashes the field red and shows Pick an unused time.

Remove a slot

Hover a pill and select the × on it, then Save slots. Nothing is written until you select Save slots, so closing the dialog with Cancel, ×, or Esc throws your edits away.

A pill has no edit control. To move a slot, remove it and add the time you want.

Saving with every pill removed clears Quick Schedule and Planoly confirms with Quick schedule cleared.

Slots keep their own timezone

Slots are weekly wall-clock times, so they are pinned to the timezone Planoly recorded for the workspace the first time the dialog was opened. See Set your timezone for what that means if you move.

Where slots show up

On the calendar, each upcoming slot is an empty pill carrying its time.

• Select a pill and the post builder opens with that time already filled in. You pick the channels and the post type inside the builder.
• Drag a post from the left panel onto a pill and the Select Time dialog opens at the slot's time, in any view. See Drag and drop on the calendar.
• Drag a post that is already on the calendar in Week or Day view and drop it within 15 minutes of a slot, and it snaps to the slot's exact time.

A slot drops off the calendar as soon as a post is scheduled at that exact minute, and slots whose time has passed are not drawn.

Inside a post, the scheduling popover lists the slots for the date you have selected under Quick schedule. Select one to set the time. Slots that have already passed today are left out.

Quick Schedule does not schedule anything on its own

Slots are shortcuts you act on one post at a time. Planoly never fills them for you, so having more posts than slots changes nothing: the posts stay where they are and the slots stay empty until you use them.

With no slots saved, the calendar shows no pills and the scheduling popover reads See your best times to post. with a Set up button.

Best Time to Post

The card at the top of the Quick Schedule dialog turns on Instagram suggestions. It reads Auto-suggest top posting times from Instagram insights.

The suggestions are worked out from your own account. Planoly reads Meta's online-followers insight for your Facebook-linked Instagram account over the last 30 days, which reports the hours your followers are on Instagram. It then takes the busiest hours of each weekday and adds up to three a day, always on the hour.

Suggested times appear as gold pills carrying the Instagram glyph, next to your own. They are read-only, so they have no ×. When a suggestion falls on the same time as a slot of yours, the suggested one is shown and yours is hidden.

The toggle saves the moment you flip it. It does not wait for Save slots.

When no suggestions appear

Turning the toggle on fetches your insights straight away, and Planoly refreshes them nightly after that. An account Meta returns no usable data for produces no gold pills, and nothing on screen explains why.

Turning the toggle off removes the gold pills from the dialog, the calendar, and the time picker.

Reconnecting

If Meta rejects your Instagram connection while Planoly is reading insights, Planoly turns Best Time to Post off and the card reads Your Instagram connection expired, so Best Time to Post can't read your insights. with a Reconnect Instagram link. Reconnecting does not switch the toggle back on. Turn it on yourself once the account is connected again.

Unlinking or deleting your last Facebook-linked Instagram account turns the toggle off the same way. Your own slots are untouched.

In the mobile app

Open a post, tap Schedule, then Set up under Quick schedule · best times. The Quick Schedule screen holds the same seven day cards and the same Best Time to Post toggle. Slots you add there show up on the web calendar.

Back in the scheduling sheet, the row of time chips is that day's slots. Tap one to set the time.

The app has no calendar overlay. Slots surface only in the post composer.

Quick Schedule needs a paid plan

Quick Schedule and Best Time to Post are paid features, on every paid plan and for the whole of a free trial. Access follows the workspace owner's subscription.

On a free workspace the dialog still opens, but the day cards are inactive. Owners see Upgrade your plan to use Quick Schedule. with a View plans link. Everyone else sees Ask the workspace owner to upgrade to use Quick Schedule.
