Fix Facebook linking errors

When a Facebook sign-in fails, Planoly shows a card headed Unable to connect Facebook with the reason and two buttons, Close and Try Again. The reason text tells you which of the problems below you hit.

These errors also cover Instagram accounts linked through Facebook, where the card is headed Unable to connect Instagram. If you link Instagram on its own, Facebook is not involved and none of this applies.

Meta blocked this connection over a privacy setting

The reason text starts with Meta blocked this connection because of the "activity off Meta technologies" privacy setting on your account.

Meta has retired that setting, so start with its replacement:

1. Sign in to Facebook on a computer.
2. Open your Facebook settings and go to Activity from other businesses.
3. Allow future activity from businesses and apps.

If your Accounts Center still shows Your activity off Meta technologies, turn Connect future activity on. If it is already on, turn it off and back on.

If neither works, link your Instagram account through its linked Facebook Page instead. Only Meta can lift this block, so anything left after that is a question for Meta support.

No Facebook Pages found for this account

Meta signed you in but handed Planoly no Page it can post to. Two things cause it.

The first is the permission step. In the Meta dialog, accept every permission and keep every Page selected under Choose what you allow. Check the selection on every attempt, not only the first.

The second is Business Portfolio access. Planoly can only offer a Page that Meta hands back with a posting token of its own, and Pages managed in a Business Portfolio can come back without one. Grant your account access to the Page in the Business Portfolio, then select Try Again.

No Instagram Business account found

Same sign-in, different requirement. Planoly reads your Instagram account through the Facebook Page it is attached to, so all of the above applies, plus:

• The Instagram account must be a Business or Creator account.
• It must be linked to one of the Facebook Pages you kept selected.

A Page with no Instagram account attached is left out of the list.

Only some of your Pages are offered

The picker lists Facebook Pages, and for Instagram it lists the Instagram accounts attached to them. A Page is left out when Meta hands it back without a posting token, which is the Business Portfolio case above, or, for Instagram, when no Instagram account is attached to it.

Select Close, start the link again, and set the Page selection again in the Meta dialog. Planoly re-asks for permissions you declined on an earlier attempt, but the choice of Pages is yours to make each time.

Channel already connected to this workspace

This one appears after you pick a Page. The Page or Instagram account you picked is already connected to this workspace on another channel. Pick a different one, or select Close and use Refresh Channel Connection on the channel that already has it.

One or more fields are invalid

The sign-in link Planoly generated is no longer usable. It works once, expires an hour after you start, and only for the Planoly account that started it.

Start over from the channel instead of reloading the page: the callback address in your browser bar cannot be re-run.

Authorization was denied

You selected the cancel or decline option in the Meta dialog. Select Try Again and complete the sign-in.

Linking from the Planoly app runs the same web flow inside an in-app browser, so you get the same screens and the same fixes there.
