Getting started

Link Instagram to a Facebook Business page

Link your Instagram account to a Facebook Business page so Planoly can tag locations, users, collaborators, and products, and show Instagram analytics.

On this page

Instagram links to Planoly on its own. Linking it to a Facebook Business page as well unlocks the features Meta only exposes through Facebook.

What linking through Facebook unlocks

  • Tagging locations, users, collaborators, and products on a post.
  • Adding music to a post.
  • Instagram analytics.
  • Hashtag and creator search in Discover.

Without it, your Instagram channel still links, schedules, and auto-posts.

Before you start

Instagram publishing needs a professional account, either Business or Creator. Instagram's own guide covers the switch: Set up a professional Instagram account.

On mobile, open Profile > Edit Profile > Page, then tap Change or Create Page. If no Page is listed, tap Connect or create to make one.

On the web, sign in to Facebook, open Linked accounts, and choose Connect account.

If you do not have a Facebook Page yet, see how to create a Facebook Page.

2. Give yourself full Page access

Sign in to Facebook on a computer and open Page access. Give your own account full access to the Page so you have the permissions Planoly needs. Facebook covers this in Page access and roles.

3. Turn on Planoly's permissions

In Facebook's Business Integrations, check that Planoly shows as Active and every permission toggle is on.

4. Activate it in Planoly

Planoly offers this from inside the feature that needs it. Open any of these screens, then select Activate on the card titled Update Instagram account to and complete the Facebook sign-in.

  • Post builder, on an Instagram channel: select Add location, Tag users, Tag products, or Add music.
  • Analytics, on the Instagram tab: select Learn how under "Business Account Required".
  • Discover > # Hashtags or Discover > @ Users: the card is the page.
