Use the Idea Generator

The Idea Generator writes post ideas from a short description of your business and audience. Each idea comes with a topic, a concept, and a hook.

Before you start

The Idea Generator requires a paid plan — a free trial counts — and is available on web only. There is no mobile equivalent.

Generate ideas

1. On the calendar, select the arrow next to Create Post.
2. Select Generate ideas.
3. The first time you use it, accept Planoly's AI Supplementary Terms and Terms of Use.
4. Fill in Tell us about yourself and Target audience. Both are required.
5. Add Specific topics (optional) if you want the ideas pointed at an event, a launch, or a product.
6. Select Generate ideas.

You get three ideas back.

Use an idea

Each idea card has two actions:

• Add to grid creates an Instagram placeholder from the idea, so the slot is reserved on your grid.
• Start post opens the post builder with the idea already filled in, ready for media, channels, and a schedule.

Generate more ideas

Change any of your inputs and select Update & regenerate ideas. Previous ideas are passed back to the generator so the new set is different.
