Creating content

Use Discover

Find stock media, search Instagram posts by hashtag, look up Instagram Business accounts, and browse Canva templates from one place.

On this page

Discover is where you find content to post. Select Discover in the left sidebar. It has four tabs: Stock Media, # Hashtags, @ Users, and Templates.

Each card carries a library icon in its top right for sending that item straight to your media library.

How selection works

The first three tabs share one flow. Select any number of images or videos across them, and a strip appears at the top with what you picked.

  1. Select the media you want. The strip shows your thumbnails and a running count.
  2. Leave Credit original creator on to add the original account's handle to the caption, or turn it off. On the Instagram tabs the same toggle reads Include captions in regrams.
  3. Select Create N drafts.
  4. Choose the channels to draft to, then select Create drafts.

To send one item straight to your library instead, use the library icon in the top right of its card.

Stock Media

Stock media is provided by Dupe. Search by vibe, filter by content type, or browse the aesthetic categories.

The first time you open it, accept the opt-in covering Dupe's content terms and Planoly's Terms of Use.

# Hashtags

This tab searches Instagram for posts carrying a hashtag. It does not suggest hashtags to use, and it does not build hashtag sets. Save those in Keywords & Captions instead.

  1. Type a hashtag in the search field.
  2. Switch between Top and Recent to change the ranking.
  3. Select the posts you want and create drafts from them.
A dark badge in the top left marks video posts and carousels. The white circle in the top right is the Add to Media Library button, not a badge.

@ Users

This tab searches Instagram Business accounts by username, shows their recent posts, and lets you pull those posts into drafts or your library.

Templates

Templates are Canva designs grouped into collections. Browsing is open to everyone; opening a template in Canva requires the Content Marketplace add-on. See Use content templates.

Requirements for the Instagram tabs

The # Hashtags and @ Users tabs need an Instagram account linked to a Facebook page. Without one, both tabs show setup steps instead of results.
