Invite and tag Instagram collaborators
Invite up to three Instagram collaborators on a post so it appears on their profile too.
Updated
On this page
A collaborator is invited to co-own an Instagram post. Tagged users are pinned to the media. Both live behind the same tool.
Requirements
- An Instagram Business or Creator account linked to a Facebook page. A reminder-only channel cannot tag people or invite collaborators.
- Media on the post. The tool stays disabled until you add a photo or video.
Where it works
| Instagram post type | Collaborators | Tag people |
|---|---|---|
| Post/Reel | Yes | Yes |

| Story | No | Yes |
Invite collaborators
- Open a post, select the Instagram channel tab, and add your media.
- In the caption tools, select Tag people.
- Select the Invite collaborators sub-tab.
- Type the username after the
@and press Enter, or select Add. - Repeat for up to three collaborators.
- Select Save tags.
Each collaborator in the list links out to their Instagram profile, and has a remove control next to it.
Tag people on the media
- Select Tag people, then stay on the Add usernames sub-tab.
- Select a point on the image to place the tag, then type the username.
- Select Save tags.
You can place up to 20 user tags per image or video, and up to 20 per post. On a video, tags stack rather than being placed by hand.
After you save
Collaborators receive the invite from Instagram once the post publishes, and it has to be accepted on their side. Whether a given account can accept — private accounts, or accounts under 18 — is decided by Instagram, not by Planner.
Mobile
Tagging people and inviting collaborators are both available in the mobile app, under Users & collaborators in the Instagram tools.
