Add music to a TikTok post

Pick a trending sound for a TikTok video or photo carousel, set where it starts, and balance it against your own audio.

You can attach a trending sound to a TikTok video or photo carousel before you schedule it.

Add a sound

  1. Select Create Post and add your TikTok channel.
  2. Upload a video, or images for a photo carousel.
  3. Select the TikTok channel tab.
  4. In the caption tools, select Music.
  5. In the Add sound sheet, search trending sounds, or use the filter icon beside the search field to set Country and Genre.
  6. Select a track to preview it against your media.
  7. Select Save.
Music sits in the caption toolbar, and the counters beside it show the 5-hashtag and 4,000-character limits TikTok applies to a carousel.
Picking a track plays it against your media straight away, and the sound name appears in the preview the way it will on TikTok.

Adjust the sound

While a track is selected, the preview panel lets you:

  • move where the audio starts
  • set how long the segment runs
  • balance Original media volume against Music volume

These controls are video-only. On a photo carousel the panel reads Adjusting sound isn't available for carousels, because TikTok accepts the track and nothing else.

On a narrow screen, select Change sound to get back to the browser.

Remove a sound

Open Music again and remove the selected track. The tool returns to its unset state.

Finish the post

Add your caption and hashtags, set the TikTok options you need, then select Save as draft or Schedule post.
