6 Instagram Post Ideas for 2024 and Beyond

6 Instagram Post Ideas to Kick Off 2024The new year has officially begun, and that means it’s time to spice up your Instagram content calendar.

Whether you’re kicking off the year with writer's block or just looking to step out of your comfort zone, you’re going to love this roundup of 6 trendy Instagram post ideas to take inspo from in 2024.

#1 In-And-Out Lists

This year, Instagram users are taking the “new year, new me” motto to a new level with In-and-Out lists.

“Ins” = what they’re doing more of in 2024, and “Outs” = what they’re leaving in 2023.

These lists are a fun, fresh format for sharing your yearly goals and reflections. If you want this post to be less personal and more business-focused, create a list of industry-specific “In” and “Out” recommendations for your audience.

You can write out your list in the Notes app and greenscreen in front of it for a Reel, or you can just post your list as a photo for your Feed. Be sure to give context– your audience will want to know why you included each “In” and “Out”.

#2 OG In-App Filters

Carousel photo dumps were all the rage in 2023. For a while, throwing together a photo dump was peak “I didn’t try”. But it’s 2024 and everyone knows you had at least three friends approve your photo lineup before posting.

Because we are endlessly obsessed with making it look like we aren’t curating our content, we’re reintroducing in-app filters to the mix. Instagram’s new and improved in-app filters for photos and Reels sparked this trend.

Next time you get the urge to post a photo dump, give one of Instagram’s in-app filters a try. And if you’re feeling extra spicy, kick the saturation up a notch.

#3 De-influencing

De-influencing is a nod to overconsumption. It’s a trend where creators pull an uno-reverse and convince their audience not to buy something.

This post idea is simple– make a list of the things you won’t be buying in 2024, including an explanation for why you won’t be purchasing each item.

Your list can be general or industry-specific.

#4 Facetime-Style Reels

The more we crave authentic connection, the more effective raw, unedited content becomes. If you have something meaningful to share, you don’t need trendy music or flashy editing to hold your audience’s attention.

Try speaking to the camera like you’re on Facetime with a friend. Edit for brevity, but try to keep it as natural as possible.

Use this post format for storytimes, educational videos, life updates, and whatever else you come up with.

#5 Text-Only Photos

Some days, hopping in front of the camera just isn’t your journey. That’s why Instagrammers are getting creative with mixed media in 2024. Some things are better written down, anyway.

Type out whatever is on your mind and upload it as a Carousel post. Keep your graphics simple, but make them fit your aesthetic. Avoid Notes app screenshots– they’re so 2018 apology-coded.

#6 Themed Series

Nothing keeps your audience coming back for more like a themed series. It’s the growth hack you’ve been dreaming about. Not only does a themed series make brainstorming content ideas a breeze. It could be the growth hack you’ve been searching for.

Themed series allow you to post consistent content in alignment with your brand. When people find your video on the Explore page and like the concept, they’ll follow your account so they don’t miss the next installment. Bonus points if you can come up with a catchy, memorable name for your series.
