How to Get Back on Track After a Long Holiday Weekend

The fireworks have exploded, hamburgers have been grilled, beers have been cracked and suntan lotion has been slathered. The fourth of July has come and gone, but can’t we just stay in vacay mode forever? How are we supposed to go back to work now?! A long holiday weekend paired with the pace of summertime can put a damper on your productivity at work. While it’s healthy to slow down once in awhile, it’s also important to maintain a consistent workflow so you don’t get too far behind. We’re here to help you get back on track, even when that swimming pool and giant pineapple floaty are calling your name.

Break it down

In order to make big tasks more manageable, break the larger projects down into smaller ones. This will help your workload feel more manageable and you won’t be overwhelmed.

Set goals

This may seem like a no-brainer, but it can help immensely. Make a list of goals, whether it be a deadline to finish a project or a creative endeavor at work, and write them down. By the end of the summer, you’ll have a lot of great work accomplished!

Plan to rest

Taking breaks can actually improve your productivity, so don’t feel like you have to finish everything all at once. Make sure that you take breaks throughout your day to rest and allow your mind to refresh.

Stay active

Nothing gets your creative juices flowing like physical activity. Try to exercise in the morning before going into work, and you might find that your mind is more alert. Taking a quick walk or going to a yoga class during your lunch break is also a fabulous way to stay energized during the day.

Clock out

When you do have a break or go on vacation – disconnect from work emails and electronics completely! Nothing helps you to stay on track better than clearing and resetting your mind. When you go back to the office, you’ll be refreshed and ready to take on all of the challenges ahead.
