Hi Jenny! Please tell us about yourself.

My name is Jenny Cipoletti and I’m a self-confessed francophile who’s passionate about all things fashion, travel and the romantic world around me. Before I started Margo & Me, I went to FIDM to study Fashion & PR. After school, I began a career in Public Relations in the fashion industry.

When and why did you start blogging and how has it evolved over the years?

After working long, hard hours at my job in PR, I came to realize that the digital space was beginning to emerge around that time, and I kept myself on the forefront of this, paving the way for my clients. After four years of working in the corporate world, I realized that I could be doing the same thing for brands, but I could be doing it on my very own platform! It was a passion project that started to take on a life of its own, and in 2014, I launched Margo & Me full-time with my husband. Now more than ever, I have the opportunity to work with designers on a really personal level, which is the most rewarding part for me.

Your husband produces a lot of your photography. What is it like working with your significant other? Any advice for creative couples working together?

I’m fortunate enough to work with a number of different, talented photographers, however, I shoot the majority of my content with my husband Freddie. We just have so much fun together organically. We’ve grown so much together as a couple, but also as creatives. My advice for couples who are working together: be communicative, open, and honest. Challenge each other and get outside your comfort zone. When you’re working with someone you’re comfortable with, sometimes the work can plateau–push through that and that’ll be some of the most rewarding work you do together.

Collaboration is a big part of your business. What types of brands do you enjoying collaborating with? What is your biggest tip when it comes to working with brands?

I’m super passionate about collaborating with brands, photographers, and creatives. It opens me up and challenges me in ways I never thought possible. I love collaborating with brands who have a really decided point of view. And when that point of view aligns with the Margo & Me aesthetics, it’s a match made in heaven! When it comes to working with brands, my best piece of advice is to really understand what the brand is trying to communicate and share it with its readers and then find a way to authentically channel that into your work.

How would you describe your aesthetic and how do you keep your brand consistent?

I would definitely describe the Margo & Me aesthetic as Romantic and Dreamy with a touch of whimsy. I want to give my readers a destination where they can feel inspired by the content we’re creating. It’s sophisticated, chic, and uber feminine–drawing inspiration from my travels across the globe. In order to keep my brand feeling organized and cohesive, I always make sure when I begin the process of building content, that it aligns with the overall aesthetic and brand of Margo & Me. I’ve worked incredibly hard to cultivate my sense of style so when I choose to work with a brand or on a project, I always want it to feel like an extension of my work. It makes for amazing, authentic content that feels organic and not contrived. This is why I put so much thought, time, and work into all of my content! Each partnership, collaboration, and/or project is another opportunity to showcase what we can create.

Let’s talk personal style. What are your favorite pieces in your wardrobe right now? What are the classics you’ll always wear and the go-to pieces when you travel?

At the moment, I can’t get enough of off-the-shoulder tops and blouses that play up the volume factor, ruffled details and velvet anything. My favorite classic pieces are well-crafted and well-tailored pea coats for winter, pussy bow blouses, and lace dresses with intricate detailing. They’re so feminine and can be incorporated into your wardrobe year round. When I’m traveling, I love to play to my destination. When I travel to warmer, tropical climates, it’s all about wide-rim boater hats, free-flowing fabric, and great accessories. When I’m adventuring in cooler climates, I love to add bright pops of color to a heavy, winter wardrobe.

What are your top three tips or advice for aspiring bloggers or content creators?

My favorite advice to share with aspiring bloggers and/or content creators are:

1. Don’t worry about whether or not there is a place for you in the blogging world. If you have a strong message and unique voice, tell your story

2. Do your homework! It’s important to be well-versed in what’s going on in your industry. Stay up to date on the latest trends, editorials, and people of importance. They’ll inspire you to really set the bar.

3. Quality versus Quantity. If you’re just churning out content for the sake of churning it out, is it really worth it? Make sure that everything you’re putting out into the world is something you’re proud to put your name on!
