Angela Fink, the mastermind behind the popular blog, The Fashion Sight, is a curator, editor and celebrity stylist who now adds stylish mommy to her impressive C.V. She has worked with recognizable names and labels and has since set an incredible standard that she lives by. We recently sat down with our dear friend Angela to find out how she “lives beautifully and never loses sight.”
Hi, Angela. Please introduce yourself!
I’m Angela Fink and I’ve been a celebrity stylist for over 14 years. I’ve worked with numerous publications, red-carpet and TV events, and with different celebrities. I have both styled and directed, and a few years ago, I transitioned into being editor of my own online fashion outlet, The Fashion Sight — and it has been so rewarding! I love creating concepts, styling looks, and traveling.
Give us a humble brag. What has been the most prized moment in your career so far.
I guess my humble brag would be that I have a really good eye for things that other people may question. One time, I was vintage shopping with my mom and I discovered this strange looking tulle dress that was a little out there. My mom seemed unsure about my pick and asked what I needed the dress for. I wasn’t quite sure at the time, but I had a vision for it and knew I would eventually put the dress to use. A few years later, I ended up utilizing it on a well-known celebrity for a publication!
How would you describe your personal style? What are your favorite items in your wardrobe right now?
Ever-changing. That’s why I got into fashion in the first place. With fashion, you can be a certain person one day, and then someone completely different the next.
I can’t say I have one favorite item, but I do love my Gucci fur slides! They are literally on my feet everyday. They go with everything, and while pregnant, they have been the perfect shoe. I also love this black slip dress by Organic by John Patrick. It’s the most basic piece, but can be worn so many different ways! With a growing belly, it’s definitely my go-to. My all-time favorite piece that I keep going back to year after year is my double-breasted blazer by DKNY. When making that purchase, I never would have thought that this would be such a staple in my wardrobe, but it is.
What is your favorite thing about being a stylist? What’s your biggest piece of style advice that you give to all of your clients?
My favorite thing about my job is that it is always evolving. I love working with new clients, new creatives, and visiting new locations. It’s definitely not boring! It keeps me on my toes and makes me push my limits.
The best advice I can give to anyone is that when trying on clothes, try on all sizes! You may be a size 4 with one designer, but a size 6 in another because all designers cut differently. I tell this to so many women! They usually try on “their size” and just give up. Play around, go up a size, and tailor it to make it fit like it was made for you. Nod to a trend, but don’t become the trend! You don’t want to indulge in one thing too much. It can be costly since trends are ever-changing, and it may not always speak to your own personal style. Confidence can sell a look so walk tall and feel good!

Congrats on your new baby girl! We can’t wait to see her styled by you! What are your favorite baby brands that you’ll be buying? What style advice do you have for expecting or new moms?
As for clothes, I love Zara, H&M, and Bon-point. I have so many cute little looks, I can’t wait to start dressing her!
For expecting moms, my advice is to buy as you grow because you just never know how exactly you are going to grow. Also, I didn’t invest in anything while pregnant except for a good pair of maternity jeans, slides, and a bag. For new moms, I say get a uniform down that you feel really good and empowered in during the first few months postpartum since your body is still changing. Don’t forget about connecting with your partner as well. Pick out a great dress that makes you feel sexy and have that sushi dinner that you couldn’t have when you were pregnant!
What advice do you have for aspiring stylists in the fashion industry?
Be realistic about what the job entails and know that for a while, making little to no money may be a reality. I would recommend having a flexible side job while assisting a stylist to learn the ropes. Building a career takes time, it doesn’t happen overnight. Don’t give up if this is something you really want to do!
You’re very health-conscious and your beautiful skin shows it! What are your go-to meals for a busy life and what’s your beauty and skin care routine?
Well, thank you! You are too sweet! For meals, my go-to is any type of veggie dish — roasted cauliflower is my favorite! My diet is limited so I have to get creative; my husband and I try new recipes all the time. We just found this vegan chili recipe and can’t stop eating it, especially now that it’s finally getting somewhat cold in LA.
As for my beauty regimen, my skin is very sensitive so my routine is minimal. Pregnancy has changed my skin so I’ve gone back to basics. You can read my whole pregnancy beauty regimen here. I believe in keeping it simple, but you can add new things to see if it works. Different things work for different people. Always read the label and know what you’re putting on your skin. Be your own advocate.
Your schedule and work days are very unique, how do you stay organized and stay on top of things? What keeps you inspired and creatively charged?
Evernote — it’s everything! I use it daily, and also keep a very detailed calendar for my deadlines and shoot dates.
Of all the social media platforms, Tumblr is where I find the most inspiration. Social media is amazing because you can see a variety of different styles and personalities. I also love going to museums and seeing things that are digital. Visiting art shows, reading magazines, attending fashion week and surrounding myself with creative friends also keep me inspired.
